Just the thought of walking into your chaotic classroom can trigger feelings of anxiety.
Students out of their seats. Everyone is talking as you are trying to give directions. More than half of the class are off task and doing anything other than what they are supposed to be doing, while the other half of class finds it impossible to focus because of the madness that surrounds them. Students unprepared, unfocused, and acting as if your class just does not matter. This is not a rare sight in most schooIs and for good reason.
Classroom Management is THE HARDEST thing to master as a teacher.
Think about what your classes could be like and how much more your students would learn if they came into class, sat down, paid attention, didn’t talk over you or their peers, completed the assignments, didn’t get up without asking, stopped the side chatter, and didn’t ask a thousand questions that you already answered…
Classroom management has a larger impact on your students' success and engagement than almost any other aspect of your teaching. When you walk into a well managed class you can feel it. Just as when you walk into a class without strong leadership you can see and feel the chaos and dysfunction.
What if I told you there are simple strategies that can stop you from losing control of your classroom and begin leading your students with confidence! With easy to implement techniques that can shift student relationships that enable poor student behavior and cause kids to not follow the rules because “I thought we were friends?” Instead I’ll show you how you can build strong student relationships while increasing student accountability and maintaining healthy boundaries.
I’ll walk you through my step-by-step process to create lessons that are so captivating and memorable that your students won’t want to be late or miss your class. Lessons that simultaneously hold your students to the high standards that you and your school expect.
What if there was a way to quickly turn your most embarrassing mistakes and mishaps (You know the ones that made you lose your temper or cry in front of your class and feel like quitting education for good) from losses into lessons? Or a way to easily implement systems into your daily classroom activities that would give you back your time, energy, and sanity?
After almost two decades as a classroom teacher I can tell you this one thing for sure…
GREAT teachers are not born… they are MADE.
How do I know? Because I've been there. After years of trial and error, teaching hard to reach and difficult to motivate students I was able to create a classroom that I looked forward to walking into each day. A classroom that valued respect, kindness, and hard work. A space that made learning both wildly fun and challenging. An environment that supports learning differences while giving students space to make mistakes as they learn. Ultimately, it looked and felt like the classroom I'd always dreamed of.
I want to share with you the simple and practical steps of how you can create the classroom you and your students deserve.
The Classroom Management Series will focus on four essentials:
CM 101: Building Relationships, CM 102: Creating Captivating Lessons, CM 103 Policies, Procedures, and Systems, and lastly CM 104: Common Mistakes & Pitfalls.
Each session will be an immersive training where I will equip you with clear, simple, proven strategies and techniques that I have successfully used in my almost 20 years in the classroom to create a structured, safe, and thriving learning environment. I will guide you on how to lead your classes with respect, boundaries, and accountability so you can continually be the teacher your students NEED you to be.
Knowing how to build positive student relationships is the key to any successful classroom. It can also fill teachers with unnecessary anxiety and dread. Especially when you are rightfully concerned about the importance of strong boundaries and what a healthy relationship looks like. I can tell you from experience that strong relationships help minimize classroom management issues and create a positive classroom culture.
